Greens fourth in Coventry local elections

10 May 2015

Coventry Green Party were fourth, with 7.2% of the vote, across the city in the 2015 local elections.

In Holbrook ward, we received our best ever result in a Coventry local election, with 919 votes (13.2%).

By comparison, in 2010, the last year that local elections were held at the same time as a general election, the Coventry Greens received 1.46% of the vote across the city.

Laura Vesty, Green Party Campaigner for Holbrooks said: "I've really enjoyed meeting so many great people again this year on the doorstep in Holbrooks."

"It's been great to help people out and whether it's litter, dog fouling and pavements, the petition to get a safe crossing at the Hen Lane/Wheelwright Lane junction, or standing against building on greenbelt land."

"I'll keep on working hard for everybody."

The Coventry Green Party beat both the Lib Dems and TUSC in all but 4 of Coventry's 18 seats.

Across the West Midlands, the Green Party now has 24 councillors on 10 councils.
